All are welcome to join us for Ash Wednesday Mass at 8:15 as we begin the season of Lent. Mrs. Gothard’s third graders are in charge of preparing and leading the Mass. All students are to wear their official uniform. Our virtue for this week is sacrifice. The students are learning that sacrifice does not just mean giving something up, but offering something up to God for the good of another. We focus on adding something positive and kind in service to another during the season of Lent. Please click on the following link for a nice Lenten Calendar with a Bible verse and an activity for each day of Lent. This would be a wonderful activity for families to do together. Lenten Calendar 2017 We will also participate in Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent at 2:30 in the church. We will dismiss from the church on Fridays.
Hot lunch menus for April will come home in the Wednesday folders this week. They are due no later than Monday, 3/6/17.
This is a BIG week for reading! We will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss this Thursday, 3/2/17! All students are welcome to dress as a favorite Dr. Seuss character and bring a Dr. Seuss book to school to share with a friend.
We are also participating in “Read the Most from Coast to Coast” on Friday, 3/3/17. Students will celebrate reading with a one-day event that encourages students to read as much as they can. Last school year, students set a new one-day record of 4,987,949 books read. Students will also complete Accelerated Reader™ quizzes on the books they read. We have set a school goal of 9,000 passed quizzes by the end of the year! Be sure to read every night and bring in the title of the book to take a morning quiz. We can do it!
Please remember that this Friday, 3/3/17, is the last day to turn in orders for the yearbook. Yearbooks are $9.00, and may be ordered online at YBPay.lifetouch.com with Yearbook ID Code: 10147017
